Tips for Buyers

Tips for Buyers

So, you've decided to buy a home and you're wondering what steps to take next. Below are some tips to help get you pointed in the right direction to start looking at homes.

  • Get prequalified with a local lender. Local lenders know the current market, how long processes take for our area and have a comfortable repoir with other professionals in the local real estate industry.
  • Create an outline of what is most important for you in your new home, start with the main necessities such as city, bedrooms, baths, square footage and work to extra amenities that are more bonuses than requirements.
  • Research home inspectors and decide who works best with your personality.
  • Be sure you're prequalified and have your funds ready for writing an offer. Earnest money ($500-$1000) will be deposited once an offer is accepted. Inspection fees are paid by the buyer and are due at the time of the inspection, they can range from $250-$350 or more depending on the size of the property. Appraisal fees can be another fee paid before closing so some disposable savings are important for these services.
